en(Light)ment

Light is all around us. We barely notice it as is part of our lives. Is “something” that allows us to see, to distinguish shapes, colors, textures, darkness. We see it as part of the scenery, the natural flow of life.

If we look closely though, we notice that is made up of a lot of components, some of which we most probably don’t even know about: the ROYGBIV specter (the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet), the UVA & UVB, infrared, etc. All of these components, combined, allow us to see clearly.

Let’s imagine we “deactivate” the color red from this composition. We will see everything in a mixture of blue & green. Objects that appear red in “normal” light will look black or dark because they rely on red light to be visible.

The same happens with our view of the world: the “broader” we allow our perception to be, the more subtleties we are able to see. Instead of seeing a few colors and a lot of black, we start seeing more and more color. And this brings serenity and ease of being.

Have you tried wearing glasses that remove a certain color from what you see? Like antifog glasses (which are yellow) or anti-blue light glasses (orange) or the funny ones with pink, blue, green lenses? I wear anti-light glasses quite often, and I noticed that, besides the fact that colors appear different, there is a heaviness that appears. By the fact that something is prevented from being seen, a certain pressure is applied to my being. Like what I see gets rearranged according to the missing tone and this builds pressure.

The same principle applies to our feelings, emotions, thoughts. The more perspectives we are willing to allow, the more color we see, and the inner pressure becomes less and less.
